A Message of Thanks

In 2020, the Christie Mountain Fire threatened our vineyard and winery, forcing the Blasted Church team to evacuate. The firefighters who fought that fire helped save our vineyard and our winery and for that, we will be forever grateful.⁠

That year, as water bombers flew directly over our vineyard to fight the fires, we wanted the crews in the sky to know they were seen. We wanted them to know just how grateful we were.⁠

So, we painted a giant THANK YOU in our parking lot, hoping the crews in the sky would see it.⁠

Six years later, that message still stands as a reminder of what this community and our wine industry continue to go through, and of the incredible people who show up when we need them most.⁠

We remember the uncertainty of watching a fire approach your community, leaving not knowing what you’ll come back to, and relying on the incredible people who run toward the danger while everyone else is getting out. And we remember the immense gratitude for the firefighters and emergency crews working tirelessly to protect your homes, your communities, and the places you love.⁠

So, to every firefighter in the sky, on the ground fighting and recharging at basecamp in Okanagan Falls, please know that we see you.
