Small Blessings Sauv Blanc 2016

Released: February 2018

Bouquet: Lime, grapefruit, and grassy/herbal notes dominate, supported by the oak and lees character.
Palate: The palate mirrors the nose with grapefruit and herbal notes followed by a subtle glimmer of tropical fruit through the persistent finish.
Food Pairing: Seafood, think mussels or oysters. The wine would also pair beautifully with a roasted chicken or turkey.

Harvest Notes

The 2016 growing season jumped off to a fast start, and it was all the vineyard team could do to keep up with the rapidly growing vines. Thankfully, the season steadied with a cooler than usual July, which allowed for a longer hang time on the grapes to allow the flavours to develop while maintaining a bracing acidity in the fruit. Our estate grown Sauvignon blanc was hand harvested on September 9 at 21.3° Brix, 9g/L TA, and pH 3.1.

Initially, this wine was meant to be blended back into the Storytelling Series Sauvignon Blanc. However, as we tasted the wine during elevage we quickly realized that this wine was a standout on its own and needed to be showcased through the Small Blessings series. It's a shame that we only had one barrel!
